I have always loved going to summer time camp since I was just a little girl. I have never seemed to be able to get away from it. Now that I am an adult, I just take groups of children from our church to summer time camp each year. I would live at camp if I could; Camp has changed quite a bit since I was a child though. I can remember nights in the cottages that were so hot that my pal and I ended up sleeping outside under the stars. Firstly, all of the cottages have air conditioner. My campers could not feel it when I told them that I did not have air conditioner in my cottage growing up. They said that they would never come to camp if there was no air conditioner. I told them a story of how one time I did get to stay in the only cottage on the campus. Every year at camp, there was a competition. Whichever cottage had the tidiest points got to stay in the air-conditioned cottage during the second week of camp. There were over two hundred campers each summer, so the chances of getting the tidiest cottage award were slim, but one year my team won, plus my pal and I got to stay in the air-conditioned cottage for the entire second week of camp. It was like paradise to us. When my friends plus I get-together, my pal and I still talk about our amazing week in the air-conditioned cottage! I told my campers this story, they did not feel me at first, so I had an old neighbor who has been on staff at the camp for over forty years verify my story.
