Closing the gap on HVAC heating savings

This Christmas is much different than last Christmas. First of all, it sounds like it’s going to be much colder than last Christmas. And that’s saying something where we live. Our gas furnace is already pumping out the heating and has been for nearly a month or more. But it appears the temperatures are going to bottom out soon and be sub zero perhaps. That makes me so glad that I did something about preparing the house this fall. It’s not as though I’m actually prescient or anything like that. I didn’t know that it was going to be super cold over Christmas when we have all the family over. What I was thinking about when I got after the winter preparation was saving money on that heating costs. This is really something that’s been overdue as I’ve needed to get after the winter preparations far sooner than I have. But man, am I ever glad I did it this year because it looks like it’s going to be a doozy. The good thing is our house is now sealed up super tight and is warmer than it’s ever been. On top of that, the gas furnace isn’t running near as much as it has in the past. And really all it took was going to an HVAC company website and learning how to seal my house properly. I found every gap I could find and sealed them tight. That includes all the weather stripping around all the doors. I even added some insulation in the attic as well. I have to say that my timing was really good with this situation.
