Recently I was lucky enough to give a speech to a group of adolescents, i was told that these youngsters were considered “at-risk youth” because they had poor grades plus behavioral problems, then more to the point, these youngsters were not college material, plus thought they had no future. Schools are terrible for making youngsters guess that going to college is the only way to have a bright future, I guess that is BS. I am residing proof – I barely graduated from high college, plus never took one college class, plus yet I own my own business, my own house, plus make a good residing, and as a roofing dealer, I will be able to send my own children to college one day… if that is what they want to do. Learning a trade plus becoming skilled at roofing was more lavish to me than any school, then this is what I wanted to impart to these so-called “at risk” teens, because the guidance counselor will never tell them to try a career in roofing, then of course I encouraged them to seek out any trade, including Heating plus Air Conditioning repair, plumbing, carpentry, plus more, however since my own personal experience was in roofing that was my focus. I handed out several dealer cards for my roofing dealer, to encourage these teens to call me plus start their own careers. I had to explain that roofing is a easily strenuous task, much harder than flipping burgers, however that it paid remarkably well for the people who could handle it. I hope I reached some of these youngsters plus made a difference.
