I have always loved going to Summer camp since I was just a little girl. I have never seemed to be able to get away from it. Now that I am an adult, I just take groups of children from our church to Summer camp each year. I would live at camp if I could, and camp has changed quite a bit since I was a kid though. I can remember evenings in the lodges that were so tepid that my pal and I ended up sleeping outside under the stars. Firstly, all of the lodges have cooling system. My campers could not think it when I told them that I did not have cooling system in my lodge growing up. They said that they would never come to camp if there was no cooling system. I told them a story of how one time I did get to stay in the only lodge on the campus. Every year at camp, there was a competition. Whichever lodge had the tidiest points got to stay in the air-conditioned lodge while in the second week of camp. There were over two hundred campers each summer, so the chances of getting the tidiest lodge award were slim, but one year my team won, plus my pal and I got to stay in the air-conditioned lodge for the entire second week of camp. It was like paradise to us. When my friends plus I get-together, my pal and I still talk about our amazing week in the air-conditioned lodge! I told my campers this story, they did not think me at first, so I had an old buddy who has been on staff at the camp for over forty years verify my story.
