My apartment is certainly rustic in appearance, the previous owner easily wanted to go with a country vibe, a part of the vibe was a working fireplace.

The two of us don’t exactly live in the woods, and sourcing wood was a big pain in the butt. I also didn’t realize how hastily fire burns it. I thought I had wood for the entire week in addition to it lasted maybe a afternoon for us. Also, smoke, ash in addition to soot are prominent with fires, and even having a grate keep the fire in didn’t easily stop all that gunk. The smell was horrendous too, however our whole apartment smelled care about a campfire. The two of us hated it in addition to agreed the people I was with and I were more traditional furnace people. Ever since after that the people I was with and I have been trying to do something with the fireplace. I cleaned out the whole area to make it look new. The front of the fireplace used to be a cracked tile. I took a marble herringbone in addition to spruced up the front of it. I added a wood frame around the fireplace so that it can serve as a shelf in addition to mantle to hold stuff. The fireplace now looks cute in addition to quaint. Occasionally our partner will put seasonal decorations in the fireplace in addition to it looks easily good. It is kind of discouraging to have a functional furnace in addition to not use it though.
