Want to detach our ancient wood stove

Our loft came with a central heating system & a decorative wood stove in the residing room, and my hubby & I realized the wood stove was actually functional.

  • The previous owner vented it to the ceiling & all the way to the roof.

It must have been an extravagant addition for what they got. The wood stove can only supply ample enough heating for the residing room, but with the central heating system running, you don’t even need it either. So if we wanted to use the woodstove we would need to close the residing room vents & use it. Well I found that I don’t actually love wood stoves, then yes, it can supply superb amounts of heating. The work involved is actually not worth it. All of us live in a wooded area so securing wood isn’t a problem. I dislike storing wood inside my house. It just looks so gross & trashy. Sometimes the wood is wet & needs to dry for afternoons. Sometimes it has an strange smell to it. Once we collect wood it doesn’t last too long either. Within hours our food supply will dwindle down to nothing. I have been talking to my hubby about removing this heating system completely. All of us would need to patch the ceiling & get roofers to detach the protrusion. It would be extravagant & time consuming. I assume it is worth it to no longer have a wood stove. My hubby doesn’t actually want to do the work of removing it. So right now I am stuck with a heating proposal that takes up half of my residing room & is worthless.
