My mom is a hoarder; he has been for the last three years and counting… I fear for his well-being because it’s a situation that can consume his life; Three years is a long time to hoard, and its disadvantage impact on his life worried me.
This habit started when I moved out, as an only child, he felt I abandoned her, even though I needed to learn to be independent and have something of my own.
I have tried to get his professional help several times, although he keeps falling back. I did not want to transfer back in, even though I wanted to improve his health with an media air cleaner. His hoarding is not at the chronic stage yet because he can access all rooms somewhat comfortably, but there is no doubt that the air quality is poor everywhere. To pull this off, I needed air purification help for an Heating and A/C professional. I had to get an Heating and A/C business official with the condo since he has been providing property service, checking the air filter every few months, and managing the duct cleaning, which is now getting out of hand because of rat infestation and duct accumulation. I wish I could maintain the Heating and A/C device better for my mom, but the building owner is limiting what we can do; For now, we are sticking to an air purification option that can repair his favorite room so that he can have better indoor air quality. If he could cooperate, I could transfer his to a smaller, manageable condo with smart Heating and A/C and whole-property air purification in place, but we have to overcome his modern situation first, entirely clean, reduce clutter and assess the whole Heating and A/C network.
