A fairly influential HVAC technician was called out to confirm my suspicions, and he confirmed that I was right. He told me that I had multiple leaks in my air ducts, which allowed a lot of air to escape and forced my air conditioner to run for longer than usual. Simply having it fixed was all that was required to permanently resolve the issue, so the HVAC tech took care of it for me the very same day.
