Sometimes I hate how much I have a hard time with things in life.
I’d rather not bring it up, but the fact that I’m struggling with the new thermostat is embarrassing me to no end.
I bought a smart thermostat after hearing nothing but praise for them, but I have to say that I have had a hard time getting it to do what I want it to. There are, to put it bluntly, a lot of options and controls. It’s a lot more complicated than my old-school dial thermostat. It can be odd to say but even my old thermostat dial can be a little too much to handle. Why this new technology is supposed to make life easier is beyond me. If anything, it only adds layers of complexity. When it came down to it, I thought my old dial thermostat did the job better. All I want from my thermostat is for it to do its job properly. My granddaughter gifted me a smart thermostat, and I set it up because I thought it was state-of-the-art HVAC equipment. That sounded good in theory, but I never actually used it. I have no idea how she did it, but she set everything up in no time. As she walked me through the process of setting it up, I was struck by how easy it really was. I told her I couldn’t figure out how to use it after it was installed, so she helped me revert back to my old dial thermostat. Without her help, I would have had to hire an expensive HVAC specialist and waste more money.
