It took me 6 years to get my bachelor’s degree, because I had to go to school part-time and work as well.
I worked at a restaurant for a long time as a dishwasher and after that I got a promotion to work in the kitchen. I worked in the kitchen for 2 years during college. During my last year of school I was promoted to the assistant supervisor position. During that time I was able to buy a car. It was a used car with no a/c, but it was mine. I drove that car all over the campus and I took my friends everywhere that my we wanted to go. I was the only one with a car and nobody minded riding around in it even if the car did not have a/c. When I finally got my degree, I started fielding some pretty serious job offers. I was looking at a starting salary of $65,000 a year or more and I have been earning about $25,000 a year at my outdated job. Suddenly I had enough money to finally buy a new car. I started looking at new cars after I took a job offer with an accounting firm in the city. I decided to buy a new car before I moved off campus even though it was quite a drive. When I thought about the fact that my car did not have a/c and I was going to be driving no matter what, I decided that a new car was more important than a new place.
